PRP Facial Rejuvenation In Milwaukie/Portland

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) facial rejuvenation is a new technique that offers quantifiable improvement in skin and complexion while increasing collagen deposition that is long-lasting. This treatment is an excellent option for Milwaukie cosmetic surgery patients who are looking to maintain the results of their surgery and for people interested in non-surgical skin rejuvenation methods.

PRP is a versatile technique that is also used to accelerate wound healing and in a number of related medical specialties. The Platelet-Rich Plasma is easily obtained by drawing 20 cc’s to 60 cc’s of blood from the patient. The blood is centrifuged, and the platelet-rich portion is separated out. This super-charged platelet gel is then used to enhance the healing process.

PRP Rejuvenation with MicroneedlingB.

We combine PRP with Microneedling collagen induction therapy to rejuvenate areas such as the face, neck, chest and hands. The Microneedling creates 1,000s of minute punctures in the surface of the skin. These tiny injuries cause the skin to release growth factors and cytokines, thereby inducing scar-free healing and stimulating new collagen and elastin to tighten the skin.

How PRP Works

To begin treatment, the face is numbed with a topical cream. It can also be numbed with nerve blocks or Lidocaine, and light sedation may be given orally. PRP is then injected into the face. The micro-injections trigger the skin to start repairing itself, and the wound-healing cascade is activated.

After the PRP is injected, the skin is treated with the Microneedling device. This increases the absorption of the PRP by about 400%. The Micro-needling preserves the top layer of skin, which makes the procedure safer than lasers, dermabrasion or microdermabrasion. There are no adverse effects such as scarring or discoloration, which can sometimes occur with other procedures.

We use 1.5 mm and 2 mm depth of penetration on the Microneedling for clinical treatments of acne scarring, stretch marks and facial rejuvenation. This penetration sizes are ideal for improving deep wrinkles, acne scars, elasticity and pigmentation. A topical anesthetic is placed on the area before treatment. When treating thicker scars and stretch marks, oral or intravenous sedation can be given.

Aftercare and Side Effects

Post-operative care is minimal. Cool soaks are used initially to remove any oozing that may occur. Swelling and bruising can occur for 2 to 3 days after the procedure. PRP accelerates healing, so the duration of bruising and swelling is lessened.

A Difference You Can See

Together, PRP and the Microneedling can improve skin texture, shrink the size of pores, minimize the appearance of scars and stretch marks and make skin shine. Skin texture improves gradually during a 3-month period following treatment, but most patients will see a noticeable change in their skin texture and complexion after 3 weeks.

The best results are seen in patients between the ages of 40 and 65 with modest wrinkling. (Microneedling treatment only) Patients who have more serious skin damage can have as many as 3 treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart. For maintenance, about 1 treatment a year will be needed, depending on age, extent of damage and amount of sun exposure. Facials can be resumed 2 weeks after treatment.

With PRP, Dr. Lopez obtains results that her patients say are equal to or better than fractional lasers or hyaluronic acid fillers such as JUVC DERMB. injectable gel or RestylaneB..
