This patient is a 38 year-old married mother of 3 children including delivering one set of twins. She is 5'10" and weighed 225 lbs. At one time she was heavier and was up to 325 lbs. After having gastric bypass in 2001 she lost approximately 100 lbs. She was left with visible stretch marks and a huge overhanging flap of skin called a pannus. She also didn't like the wide hips and wanted them taken down at the same time. She was also unhappy with the fact that she had to buy pants 2-3 sizes larger just to accommodate the pannus and hips, as she was comparatively small-waisted.

KD elected to undergo an Avelar tummy tuck and liposuction of hips at the Aesthetic Laser Center in Fresno. She wanted the pannus gone and the hips smaller to give her a more proportioned look.

Durning her procedure at the Fresno office 800 cc or 1.7 lbs of fat was removed from the hips. Since liposuction is done at the same time the extra skin is removed from the abdomen, she had 3500 cc or 7.7 lbs of fat also removed from the abdomen. The skin flap that was removed weighed almost 12 lbs, and her incision was from hip to hip.

On the first day after surgery KD was down 14 lbs from her preoperative weight. She complained of some pain at the incision site but had more discomfort from the liposuction. She was walking around her house, eating and drinking lightly the night of surgery. Durning her office visits she was treated with the Erchonia light laser for pain, swelling, to improve the circulation and to help the wound heal faster. This laser has been shown to pain after surgery by at least 30%.

After 4 weeks KD's weight was down to 204 lbs. She was still slightly swollen but able to buy pants at least 2 sizes smaller and fit comfortably without "baggy" areas. She continues to work, care for her family and is very happy with her more pleasing appearance.
