About the O-Shot

The O-Shot is an innovative treatment that uses a sample of each patient’s blood to rejuvenate vaginal tissue and promote healing. This treatment specifically uses the platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a concentrated plasma serum that is used to help regenerate cells. PRP has several different applications, including hair restoration, orthopedics, and even dermatology. PRP contains over 20 different types of growth factors, each of which contributes to cell regeneration, cell migration, and the formation of new blood cells. (1)

Female Sexual Dysfunction

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is a broad term that encompasses a variety of conditions or concerns that affect sexual response, desire, and orgasm. Sexual dysfunction affects approximately 38%-63% of women in the United States, affecting not only their sexual function but also their overall quality of life. (2)

FSD can be divided into three categories: genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder (sexual pain), female sexual interest/arousal disorder (low desire and low arousal), and female orgasmic disorder (orgasmic dysfunction). (3, 4) The O-Shot can effectively address each of these concerns with a natural and regenerative treatment.

Benefits of the O-Shot

The O-Shot offers several advantages for women looking to improve their sexual health and well-being. A few of these benefits include:

  • Enhanced Orgasms: Many women report experiencing stronger and more intense orgasms following treatment.
  • Increased Sensitivity: The O-Shot boosts sensitivity in the clitoral and vaginal areas, enhancing overall pleasure.
  • Improved Lubrication: The O-Shot can revitalize vaginal tissue health and reduce dryness, making intimacy more comfortable.
  • Youthful Tissue Health: This treatment encourages tissue regeneration, providing younger-looking and overall healthier tissue in the treated area.
  • Non-Surgical Treatment: This treatment does not require incisions, anesthesia, or a lengthy recovery time.
  • Quick Recovery: Patients can resume normal activities immediately after their appointment, with any restrictions lasting only a few days.
  • Natural Results: Because the treatment uses the body’s own platelets, results manifest naturally without any foreign substances.
  • Boosted Confidence: As a result of their treatment, many women report feeling more confident in intimate settings.

Suitable Candidates

The O-shot can benefit women experiencing symptoms such as vaginal dryness, urinary incontinence, difficulty achieving orgasms, or other discomfort or irritation during intercourse. Additionally, women with a low libido, or those interested in improving the health of their vaginal tissue, may also make suitable candidates. Patients should be in good general health, keep their expectations realistic, and be willing to openly communicate their concerns. Dr. Lopez will discuss each patient’s symptoms with them during their personal consultation to determine if the O-Shot is right for them.

Personal Consultation

Before receiving the O-Shot, each patient will meet with Dr. Lopez for a personal consultation. During this meeting, Dr. Lopez will discuss your medical history, symptoms, and your desired results. She may also evaluate the genitalia to better assess your concerns. Using this information, she will craft a treatment plan, tailoring certain aspects to effectively address each concern.

Patients are encouraged to prepare and ask questions, as well as voice any concerns they may have about the O-Shot.

Preparation

Dr. Lopez will provide a set of guidelines to help each patient prepare for their O-Shot. Most patients are asked to discontinue the use of certain medications and supplements with blood-thinning properties. Alcohol should be avoided for several days before and after the treatment, and smoking should be avoided for several weeks before and after the treatment.

Dr. Lopez also recommends maintaining a nutritious diet and staying hydrated leading up to the appointment. On the day of the treatment itself, patients should arrive wearing loose and comfortable clothing.

Procedure

The O-shot is quick to perform, often taking only 30 minutes to 1 hour. The procedure starts by collecting a blood sample, similar to that of a normal doctor’s appointment, then processing it to separate plasma and platelets from other cellular matter. During this time, a topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area to keep you comfortable.

Dr. Lopez will carefully inject the PRP into various areas of the vaginal area, targeting specific sites like the vaginal wall or clitoral area to enhance tissue health, vaginal lubrication, and sensitivity.

Recovery & Results

Following their appointment, each patient is welcome to return to their daily schedules as normal, as recovery from the O-Shot is fairly minimal. However, sexual activity, tampon use, and physical activities should be avoided for 24-48 hours. Individuals can start to notice improvements in sensitivity and natural lubrication within days to weeks, with the full results manifesting gradually. As the full effects become more apparent, patients will enjoy an improvement in their sexual satisfaction and intimate comfort, leading to improvements in their overall confidence and quality of life. The results of the O-Shot are long-lasting, with many patients enjoying their results for 12-18 months.

Corresponding Procedures

Dr. Lopez can perform many other procedures in addition to the O-Shot to provide more comprehensive outcomes, including our platelet-rich fibrin treatment. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a skin rejuvenation treatment that helps repair the health and quality of the skin barrier. Similar to the O-Shot, this treatment uses the regenerative properties found in blood to promote healing and tissue health. However, PRF contains fewer anticoagulants than PRP, making it the preferred choice for patients with more sensitive skin. (5)
