Research Update
PRP or platelet-rich plasma is used to accelerate wound healing and Dr. Lopez uses it for most surgeries. The increases in growth factors accelerate the rate of wound healing and also improve the appearance of scars. PRP injected into the face has shown to cause rejuvenation by increasing collagen deposits and encouraging cellular repair. This process will continue for up to 3 to 4 months.
Dr. Lopez will be publishing an upcoming paper in a peer reviewed journal about using PRP to heal an open wound on a patient. PRP facial rejuvenation can be performed with local anesthesia, and because wounds heal more quickly with PRP there is usually minimal bruising.
